I tried going into the taskbar advanced tab and clearing it using Recent documents clear list but had no success. strange problem with Internet explorer?

i have been facing a strange issue with intenet explorer version 6. Whenever i sign into any of the e-mail accounts,for instance gmail,yahoomail…after logging in i get a blank page.Though iam able to open certain webpages like yahoo,google..etc.I tried upgrading to IE version 8,but the same problem exists!! I also tried freeing up cache and erasing browsing history..but alas,no change!! Please find a solution!!
